EPAC Examination Preparation Course 2026
Prepare with confidence for the European Patent Administration Certification (EPAC) exam on 5 November 2026 with this targeted and intensive preparation course.
Following the introduction of the modular EPAC exam structure, this course is fully aligned with the four EPAC modules.
Important: Each module must be booked separately. Candidates wishing to prepare for more than one module must enrol for each relevant module individually.
Designed for paralegals, formalities officers and patent administrators, this course is intended for participants who already have an intermediate level of knowledge and wish to refine their skills in a focused, exam-oriented setting.
Course Format and Timeline
- Start: 17 September 2026
- End: 22 October 2026 (two weeks before the exam)
- Format: Live online sessions, exercises and tutor support
The course consists of six live sessions, each assigned to a specific module.
Enrolment for the EPAC exam closes on 15 September 2026, allowing candidates to confirm their exam modules before the course begins.
Course Structure by Module
Module 1 – Patent Law (EP & PCT)
Covers the legal foundations of European and international patent law:
- Core principles under the EPC and PCT
- Legal effects and common provisions
- Post-grant legal aspects and selected PCT-related issues

Both sessions are included when enrolling for Module 1
Module 2 – Filing, Search and Examination
Focuses on procedures before the EPO from filing to examination:
- Filing routes, priorities, languages and formal requirements
- Search procedures and procedural pitfalls
- Substantive examination and decision-making

- 8 October 2026
Both sessions are included when enrolling for Module 2
Module 3 – Post-Grant & Litigation Context
Covers procedures after grant and their practical implications:
- Opposition and appeal
- Validation requirements
- UPC and opt-outs
Live session:
- 15 October 2026
Module 4 – PCT Procedures & National Phases
Focuses on international procedures and national/regional phases:
- International and regional PCT phases
- Time limits and formal requirements
- Entry into the European phase
Live session:
- 22 October 2026
