EU Plant (Non-)Patenting Proposals Update

Biotech Committee prepared, on behalf of epi, an update of its previous position paper relating to the proposal of EU Regulation on plants obtained by certain new genomic techniques and their food and feed (NGT plant regulation) wherein the proposal contains provisions relating to patent protection and related obligations of the concerned parties.

The new paper summarizes the current status of the legislative process, discusses the patent-related provisions currently pending in the proposal, and offers the epi expertise.
