Open public consultation launched by the European Commission on patents and standards

May 03, 2022

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on patents and standards. All epi members are encouraged to take the opportunity to provide their views to the European Commission on these matters.

The European Commission has launched a public consultation on patents and standards aimed at seeking the views of stakeholders on various questions that are important for developing an efficient framework for SEP licensing, namely: (i) transparency; (ii) the concept of licensing on FRAND terms and conditions, including the level of licensing; and (iii) effective enforcement.

You can contribute to this consultation by filling in an online questionnaire which is available in some or all official EU languages. It is possible to submit your responses in any official EU language. In order to see the questionnaire and contribute you’ll need to register or login using an account. If you are unable to use the online questionnaire, the European Commission has indicated the email of Ms Elena Kostadinova Elena.KOSTADINOVA@ec.europa.eu as their contact.

You can contribute on an individual basis or as organisation or company. For reasons of transparency, organisations and businesses taking part in public consultations are asked to register in the EU’s Transparency Register.

We encourage all epi members to take the opportunity to provide their views to the European Commission on these matters. The deadline for submissions expires on the 09 May 2022 (midnight Brussels time).
