By a decision of the President of the European Patent Office dated 4 April 2022 the EPO has extended the pilot project for oral proceedings by videoconference before opposition divisions until 31 December 2022.

European Qualifying Examination (EQE) 2022 completed.

The European qualifying examination (EQE) 2022 concluded last week, after a 11-day examination cycle that ran from Tuesday, 8 March to Friday, 18 March.

The EPO has announced a public online consultation on the EPC Guidelines and the PCT-EPO Guidelines.

The consultation will close on 15 April 2022.

In a notice from the EPO dated 22 December 2021 the EPO announced the decision of the President to give applicants the possibility to request that the issuance of the decision to grant a European patent be delayed so that the mention of the grant is published in the European Patent Bulletin on or immediately after the date of entry into force of the UPCA in order to allow the registration of unitary effect for that European patent.
