Decommissioning of online filing (CMS) with effect from 1 January 2022

The EPO has announced here that the existing web-based online filing service (also known as CMS) will be decommissioned with effect from 1 January 2022. It will be replaced by the EPO’s new web-based filing service Online Filing 2.0, which was launched on 1 April 2021. The eOLF and web-form filing services are not affected by this announcement.

Goodbye Skype, Hello Zoom, for EPO oral proceedings before the Examining Division, Receiving Section and Legal Division from 1 October 2021

The EPO has announced here that with effect from 1 October 2021, all oral proceedings before the Receiving Section, the Legal Division and the Examining Divisions will be held exclusively by Zoom.
The EPO has decided to decommission Skype for Business as of 1 October 2021.

German Bundestag approves Law Reform allowing epi Members to partner with nationally qualified patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law in Germany

Last week, on 10th June 2021, the lower house of the German Parliament (Bundestag) approved a law which will allow European Patent Attorneys working in private practice to professionally and economically associate with nationally qualified patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law in Germany to exercise their free profession.
