The epi Council approved the recruitment of an Executive Director at the Council meeting C86 and approved the amendments to the corresponding epi regulations at the Council meeting C87 including a transitional provision which conferred to the Presidium the competence to determine the date of entry into force of the new provisions.
Following its filing of a preliminary brief on 12 April 2021, which addressed the composition of the panel of the Enlarged Board of Appeal dealing with the reference under case G 1/21, the epi has filed on 27 April 2021 a substantive brief dealing with the referred question itself.
In 2000, WIPO’s member states designated April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as World IP Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of IP.
The EPO announced in a Notice of 13 April 2021 that the stay on proceedings before examination and opposition divisions in which the decision depended on the outcome of G 1/19 (see published decision of 10 March 2021) has been lifted with immediate effect. Affected proceedings will be gradually resumed.
