Reinforcing ties between the epi and the JPAA

March 09, 2018

Today epi hosted a delegation of the Japanese Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA) with the aim to discuss current developments in the field of patent law and strengthen the ties between the two organizations, which had previously met in 2016.

The epi delegation was headed by the President Francis Leyder and included, among others, Mr Tony Tangena (immediate past-president) and Mr Michael Fleuchaus (Chairman of the Committee dealing with computer-implemented inventions). The JPAA delegation was headed by Ms Keiko Honda (Vice President of the JPAA) and included Mr Shogo Onishi (Director General of JPAA International Activities Center) and Ms Shoko Tsutsui (Head of European Visiting Project Group).
The delegations had an extended exchange of views on the protection of computer-implemented inventions in Japan and in Europe. Other topics discussed during the meeting included the current status of the UP&UPC, approaches to acceptable amendments of patent applications and the main characteristics of the IP litigation system in Japan.
All the presentations shown during this meeting are available for epi members after login.
