In 2000, WIPO’s member states designated April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as World IP Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of IP.
The EPO announced in a Notice of 13 April 2021 that the stay on proceedings before examination and opposition divisions in which the decision depended on the outcome of G 1/19 (see published decision of 10 March 2021) has been lifted with immediate effect. Affected proceedings will be gradually resumed.
The Boards of Appeal have published a communication setting a deadline of 27 April 2021 for any third party wishing to make a written statement (or amicus curiae) under Article 10(1) of the Rules of Procedure of the Enlarged Board of Appeal in relation to the question referred in G 1/21.
